JAPAN HONEYMOON

A Japan honeymoon, designed around the two of you.

Glow Japan plans honeymoons for couples who want Japan to feel personal rather than packaged — the right pace, the right places to stay, unhurried dinners, a ryokan night that actually feels private, and beauty and wellness moments woven in. A Japan-based team designs the journey; you simply arrive.

WHAT WE CAN ARRANGE

Planned around you, coordinated for you.

A personalized honeymoon itinerary

Routes across Tokyo, Kyoto, Hakone, Kanazawa, Hokkaido or Okinawa, sequenced so you are never rushing between trains on the days that matter most.

Ryokan and hotel guidance

Recommendations for where to stay — including rooms with a private open-air bath — matched to your budget and style. You book the stay directly, keeping your own loyalty benefits.

Dining worth dressing up for

Counter dining, kaiseki and quieter neighbourhood restaurants chosen for atmosphere as much as reputation, with reservations coordinated where the restaurant allows.

Spa, beauty and slow mornings

Head spa, facials, couples’ treatments and onsen time planned as part of the trip — useful after a wedding season, not just a nice extra.

Private and cultural experiences

Tea, crafts, gardens and guided time where it genuinely adds something, coordinated through providers we can verify.

Moments for a celebration

A special dinner, flowers, a photographer or a quiet surprise — planned with care. For larger set pieces, see our special occasions planning.

What makes a Japan honeymoon different

Japan rewards couples who travel slowly. The country is extraordinarily efficient, but its best moments — a ryokan dinner served in your room, an early walk before a temple opens to crowds, a counter seat where the chef talks you through each course — need time around them. Most honeymoon itineraries we see from couples planning alone try to fit Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima and Mount Fuji into ten days. It looks efficient on paper and feels exhausting in practice.

We usually design honeymoons around two or three bases rather than five, with one or two nights in a ryokan or a quieter hotel to break up the cities. The result is a trip that has room for the things you will actually remember.

How long, and where

Seven to ten days comfortably covers Tokyo plus Kyoto with a ryokan night in between — Hakone is the classic choice for an onsen stay within easy reach of both. Twelve to fourteen days opens up a third region: Kanazawa for craft and gardens, Hokkaido for space and seasonal food, or Okinawa if you want the trip to end on a beach rather than a train platform.

Our Japan honeymoon itinerary guide walks through sample shapes for 7, 10 and 14 days, including where couples most often over-plan.

Timing and booking

Cherry blossom season (usually late March to early April) and autumn colours (roughly mid-November to early December in Kyoto and Tokyo) are beautiful and heavily booked. Golden Week in late April and early May, the Obon period in mid-August and the New Year holidays are domestic travel peaks with fuller hotels and some closures.

For most honeymoons we suggest getting in touch around three to six months before you travel, especially if a particular ryokan or restaurant is important to you. Shorter timelines are often still possible; they simply leave less choice.

What Glow Japan does — and what stays with you

Glow Japan designs the itinerary, researches and recommends where to stay, eat and spend your time, and coordinates reservations for supported dining, beauty, wellness and experience bookings, subject to each provider’s availability and conditions. Hotels, ryokan, flights and transport are recommended and planned around but booked directly by you, and paid to the provider.

That separation is deliberate: you keep control of the biggest costs and your own loyalty status, and our planning fee is clearly stated rather than hidden in room rates.

Questions travelers ask

When should we start planning a Japan honeymoon?
Around three to six months before travel is ideal, particularly for cherry blossom or autumn dates, or if a specific ryokan matters to you. We can often help with shorter timelines too, with more limited availability.
Do you book our hotels and ryokan?
We recommend where to stay and plan the itinerary around it, but you book accommodation directly with the property. That keeps your payment method, cancellation terms and loyalty benefits in your hands.
Is there an extra fee for planning for two people?
Not when you share the same itinerary, activities and services. The Couple Plan add-on applies only when each of you needs separate planning, research or reservation coordination.
Can you include spa and beauty appointments?
Yes — beauty and wellness are a particular specialty. Head spa, facials, massage and onsen time can be planned into the trip, with reservation coordination for supported providers.
