Onsen and ryokan
Hot spring towns and ryokan chosen for the kind of rest you want — private baths, quiet rooms, food that is part of the stay.
WELLNESS IN JAPAN
Japan has a wellness culture that long predates the word — hot springs, bathing rituals, seasonal food, gardens designed to be sat in. Glow Japan builds those into a trip on purpose, so rest becomes part of the itinerary rather than whatever is left over at the end of a long day.

WHAT WE CAN ARRANGE
Hot spring towns and ryokan chosen for the kind of rest you want — private baths, quiet rooms, food that is part of the stay.
Massage, shiatsu-style bodywork and spa time selected around your preferences. Our Japanese spa treatments guide explains the options.
Scalp care and deep relaxation — one of the most restorative appointments in Japan, especially after a long-haul flight.
Gardens, quiet cafés, early-morning walks and bathhouses that make Tokyo or Osaka feel gentler. See our Tokyo wellness guide.
Mountain, forest and coastal days paced for walking and breathing rather than sightseeing at speed.
Seasonal, lighter dining and tea — an often overlooked part of feeling well while travelling.
Many visitors arrive expecting wellness to mean a hotel spa. In Japan it is broader and more woven into daily life: the evening bath, a ryokan’s rhythm of bathing, dinner and early sleep, the quiet of a garden visit before the crowds. The best wellness trips we plan combine a few excellent treatments with a structure that lets the body actually slow down.
That usually means fewer hotel changes, at least one stay at a hot spring, and city days with deliberate gaps. Our Japan wellness travel guide covers onsen etiquette and the ryokan format in more depth.
Beauty and wellness overlap more in Japan than almost anywhere — the head spa is the obvious example. Many of the travelers we work with want both: a facial and a massage in Tokyo, then a ryokan with its own bath. We plan them together so treatments land on the right days, in the right order, and never on top of a dinner reservation across town.
If beauty is the main focus, our Tokyo beauty concierge page explains how we approach salons, head spas and skincare.
Communal onsen are typically bathed in without swimwear, and some facilities restrict visible tattoos — policies vary, and private baths are an easy alternative. Spa and massage appointments in popular hotels and studios book up on weekends and holidays. Hot spring towns are especially busy during Japanese holiday periods such as Golden Week, Obon and New Year.
Glow Japan recommends and plans around where you stay, and coordinates supported wellness and spa reservations. Accommodation itself is booked directly by you with the property.
