What a Japan travel concierge actually does
A guidebook tells you what exists. A concierge decides what belongs in your trip. That means choosing between ten good restaurants in the same area, knowing which neighbourhoods suit your pace, spotting where a day is overloaded, and handling the bookings that are difficult from abroad — places that take reservations in Japanese, by phone or only with specific details.
Glow Japan does that research and coordination, and puts it into a single itinerary built around you. Every recommendation is chosen by people based in Japan; nothing is generated from a template.
Why travelers use a concierge instead of planning everything alone
Many people plan wonderful Japan trips themselves. A concierge is worth it when your time is limited, when the trip includes hard-to-book dining, beauty or wellness appointments, or when you want the days to feel effortless rather than optimised on paper. The most common thing we fix is an itinerary that looks good online but would be exhausting in reality.

How planning works
You send a short Planning Request — dates, travel style and what you would love to experience. There is no payment to submit it. We review it and confirm the right plan; once approved, you complete your travel preferences and a 25% deposit begins planning. We design your itinerary, refine it with you, and deliver the final version once the remaining balance is paid. Plans with Direct Concierge Messaging include it once planning begins. What Glow Japan does — and doesn’t — do
We are a planning and concierge service, not a tour operator or booking marketplace. Our fee covers research, personalization and coordination. Hotels, flights and transport are recommended and planned around, but booked by you; we do not sell packaged tours or mark up hotel rooms, and we do not accompany guests during the trip. - Is Glow Japan a travel agency?
- No. Glow Japan is a Japan-based planning and concierge service. We design personalized itineraries and assist with supported reservations; we do not sell packaged tours, flights or hotel rooms.
- What do I receive?
- A personalized itinerary with your recommendations organized in one place, refined with you before final delivery, plus reservation assistance for supported services and concierge support according to your plan.
- How is this different from an AI itinerary?
- AI is useful for inspiration. We add human judgement and a local perspective: whether a place is genuinely worth your time, how areas connect, what the atmosphere is like, and what will actually work on the day.
- How far ahead should I contact you?
- Around eight to twelve weeks before arrival suits most trips. For peak seasons or very popular restaurants, earlier is better. If your trip is coming up soon, send a request anyway and we will tell you what is realistic.
- Do I pay providers through Glow Japan?
- Generally not. Whenever possible you pay hotels, restaurants, salons and other providers directly, using your preferred payment method. Our planning fee is separate and clearly stated.
